The direct involvement of a Ukrainian university will add value to the project by providing essential information on migrant students and their needs. Thus, the Ukrainian associate partner will not only add complementary quantitative data to the partnership across all activities (gathering the quantitative data on outgoing students, processing the database, providing the text materials, organising the National conference with equal objectives and take honoured part in the final international conference), but will also be actively involved in sharing knowledge and experiences of UA student inclusion within consorium. The perspective from the internal environment of the Ukrainian higher education system on the adaptation of students at European HE institutions is will add the value as an important indicator for determining the quality and relevance of the research activities in the project.

Work package n°2 – Determination of real situation and identification of the specific problems

The output of WP 2 is the identification of the key areas in which inclusion actors (university management, Ukrainian students, domestic students and teachers) perceive the greatest gaps and weaknesses of the inclusion process in the EU higher education system surveyed. A comparison of these areas across partner universities will allow to highlight those areas that are common to all participating partners, as well as to identify national specifics. This will result in the publication of text books for each partner and one comparative collective work, which will focus on the identification and analysis of issues related to the inclusion of Ukrainian students. The aim of the text book and the collective work is to provide a comprehensive set of information and data on the ongoing inclusion of Ukrainian students in the higher education systems of European countries at the frontline of countries that bear the brunt of Ukrainian migration. These outputs will have the ambition to be a model not only for other EU educational institutions, but also for potential normative regulation of the inclusion of not only Ukrainian students across HEIs in the EU. Another output of WP 2 will be the identification of grassroot experts (in each of the partner countries) who will be invited to National conferences organised in the framework of WP 3.

Summary of the main outputs of WP 2:

Identification of key areas of research in WP3

Quantitative set of data: Socio-demographic data set on Ukrainian students integrated in HE systems/ partners UNIs + assoc. partner

Qualitative data set (as an output of informal and thematic meetings and World cafés with the actors concerned)

3 sets of survey questionnaires (in UA, English and national languages) disseminated in each partner/ 1 specific survey in UA

4 databases of data from the surveys data collection

4 text books resuming the quantitative and qualitative data

1 joint collective comparative work in form of text book

Work package n°3 – Sharing knowledge

We plan to organise 4 National scienfic and expert conferences, 1 International scientific and expert conference (combined with Final meeting)

Summary of the main outputs of WP 3:

8 Scientific collection of papers (UMB 2/ UR 2/ OUC 2/Chernivtsi 2);

4 Summary text book (all partners 1);

1 Best-practise handbook adressed to state authorities, European stakeholders, civil society organisations and other related public bodies (elaborated in consortium);

4 Good practices guidance handbook for Ukrainian students (for each specific HE system: Slovakia, Poland, Romania;

Ukraine will elaborate the Good practice handbook in comparative perspective related to all of the researched HEIs and their practices);

1 Common Handbook of recommendations to the other European HEIs on improving the inclusion of Ukrainian students.

Work package n°1 Project Management UMB as the project coordinator and applicant takes the lead in partnership and is responsible for the coordination of the project.
